Shub-Niggurath, the Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young

Shub-Niggurath, also known as The Black Goat of the Woods, is one of the fictional deities from the Cthulhu mythology of H.P. Lovecraft. Despite being an Outer God, Shub-Niggurath is never described in any of Lovecraft's stories. However, she is frequently mentioned or invoked in incantations. Many fans of Lovecraftian literature consider her a perverse fertility deity. She is described as a huge nebulous mass from which black tentacles protrude, mouths dripping saliva, and short twisted goat legs. The presence of Shub-Niggurath in Lovecraft's tales adds a touch of mystery and cosmic horror to his stories, showing the influence that this fictional deity has on the author's imagination and that of his followers.
